My name is Rhonda Durham and I am proud to say that I am 55 years old. Being on a diet and watching my weight, has been something I’ve done for most of my adult life, especially after having my children. I’ve tried different diets (Weight Watchers, for one) through the years, without any success. I’ve been a runner for many years too. Hopping on a treadmill or the elliptical got to be very boring!

Approximately 15 months ago, in January, 2011, I decided to get serious about the situation. I signed up for a one month membership to a local boot camp through Groupon. This particular boot camp was not my cup of tea. The owner/trainer had a completely different training attitude than Isaac Ho, of BeFit Tacoma (my current boot camp trainer). During this time, I injured my knee in his boot camp. Isaac helped me rehab it. It wasn’t long and I was able to jump back into my boot camp routine. After this introductory one month was complete, I decided to join BeFit Tacoma, under the direction of Isaac Ho. I can’t stress enough how much he has helped me to succeed in my weight loss journey. He is the best in the business! Why? Because he is so knowledgeable about everything; why we do it, why it benefits us, what body part/muscle it benefits, etc. If I am using improper form/technique, he is right there to correct it, to avoid any injury.

When I first started BeFit Tacoma, I have to admit, it was tough! At my age, I never expected to be joining a boot camp class! But, after that first month, I had already started seeing results. I lost six pounds and was noticing how much better I felt and looked! In fact, I was even getting compliments!! A few compliments from people go a long way! I decided to go ahead and stick with it. I can’t say enough about what a positive atmosphere it is! This ‘group training’ atmosphere is so motivating! Everyone is like family. We all encourage each other and push each other (in a good way) to achieve our goals. At BeFit Tacoma, you not only have the best personal trainers, you have the benefit of nutrition seminars, weekly newsletters/blogs, videos that demonstrate most of our workouts.

Since I started BeFit, I have lost a total of 41 pounds and have gone down 4 pant sizes (Size 16 to 10). In addition, at my most recent yearly check-up, my cholesterol has dropped a total of 31 points. So, not only am I having results on the ‘outside’, I am having results on the ‘inside’. I feel so much better and feel so much stronger! As a runner, I can really feel the difference because of my weight loss! I am moving much faster than before!!! In fact, in a recent St. Patrick’s Day race, I placed 3rd, out of 58 women in my age group (55-59)! I even got a ribbon! This is a first for me!!!

When your husband, children, family and friends tell you how great you look and how PROUD they are of you, it makes all the difference in the world. Thank you Isaac Ho and BeFit Tacoma!

There is nothing like the experience you get at BeFit Tacoma!! I’ve never experienced people in this business that truly care about you and your success as much as the trainers at BeFit… they never cease to amaze me! Before I joined BeFit Tacoma I had been a member at 2 commercial gyms, as well as tried working out at home… everything from P90X to Wii Fitness.

I’ve struggled with being chubby and overweight since the fifth grade. Growing up, I followed my dad’s diet of junk and fast food. Although he didn’t gain weight, the rest of us did. In fact, I kept gaining weight all the way through college. After attending PLU and later getting my master’s degree, I hit my highest weight of 248 pounds. I hovered around a size 22, occasionally dropping to a size 20, but never successfully losing weight. I tried Weight Watchers, but I was always hungry. I joined a gym, working out by myself and with a trainer, but never saw the results I needed.

I have never been able to get a workout like the ones at BeFit. In the past I would go to the gym for some cardio work or a routine designed by a trainer, and yet I never felt tired or sore. This is NOT the case with BeFit. Every time I finish a boot camp class, I know I got in a worthwhile workout. I can feel the satisfying weariness and soreness of a great exercise routine.
Time is the biggest problem for me. As a busy accountant, I can only make it in twice a week to BeFit. Between these classes and the occasional other workout, I was able to go from 248 pounds to 202 pounds. I went from wearing a size 22 to a size 16! I’ve noticed a huge difference in strength, and my body has firmed and toned everywhere from the full body workouts we do. People tell me I look GREAT and constantly remark on the awesome progress I’ve made. They ask me what I’m doing to get so small. Most people think I am smaller than I actually am because of how dense and toned my muscles are. My clothes are all too big, and I had to go buy new outfits for work. The encouragement I get from everyone at BeFit and my coworkers has really changed my life and constantly motivates me to keep pushing myself.
Isaac is personal, fun, and most importantly, seriously cares about everyone who comes to the gym. He desires that each person see results no matter where he or she may be in the journey of health and fitness. I’ve worked with Isaac for several years now, and he continues to change and get better and better both as a person and a trainer. He never gives up on us, even when we give up on ourselves.
If you want results, you need to come to boot camp and get serious. Isaac teaches that consistency in exercise AND nutrition will yield results. I’ve seen it, and it is absolutely worth the cost. You have to want it in order for it to work. My busy routine and love of food have impacted my health negatively, but thanks to Isaac and BeFit Tacoma, I’ve forged a new lifestyle. Not only have I lost the weight, but I’m keeping it off. I am committed to these changes and I WILL continue to hit my goals and get healthier.
